ABOUT SHIZLEEN
Shizleen has a wealth of experience and knowledge in social work, particularly within the disability sector. She brings 15 years of experience working in different communities both in Australia and abroad. Shizleen works towards a future that will see people with disabilities having equal access to meaningful participation in their communities. She is passionate about putting programs and targets in place that will see the barriers faced by people with disabilities being treated as societal barriers, rather than individual.
Shizleen believes that shifting this lens will help us to build a community that is more inclusive and accessible for not just people with disabilities, but other groups who are experiencing similar struggles when participating in their local community.
At the forefront of her work is an acute awareness that the space she works in involves people and families dealing with a lot of grief, emotional trauma, and acceptance.
